Silver State PERAK - Political Unstability

Three weeks after the 12th General Election, the Perak exco (without portfolio) was just sworn in last Saturday and today Bernama has reported the resignation of the assemblyman (DAP) from Buntong admist intense positioning and disatisfaction amongst the valid reasons.

Why cant the stupid and shaky coalition of PKR-PAS-DAP got it right from the beginning and avoided such embarassment for being branded incompetent yet again?

Why does such things happen? Do they lack the political maturity? Are they also just as greedy as the former administrators? And for what ever the reasons, citizens of Malaysia and in particular Perakian, please wake up and realise that who so ever you chose to put in the position of the government, the same monkey business will always prevail and like my usual frank and no holds barred phrase, " Lim Kit Siang could be the next PM and the circus goes on mama".

The moral of the story is this, nothing is gonna change, people might come and go but the bad habits and conventions will prevail just in a different guise.

To date, we citizens of Perak have yet to hear some comforting news or development for the former leaders and political groups as all of them are still in denial as they claim that there are not much money to re-organised and the putrajaya leadership has not been forthcoming admist trouble in their own party.

Imagine the irony, you can spend huge sums of money for the sake of development (we all know where it all went) and when it matters most, "everyman for himself", and lack or no initiative to win back the hearts and soul of the rakyat they have betrayed in the first place.

Check the report and surveys on how close BN came to losing the country and do you think there is fear in this charade and political circus? Does not seem like it.

One senior politician commented to me this morning, quote - "the rakyat is regretting now since putting the opposition in power - padanlah muka", please get yourself a mirror YB and reflect on your past sins YB and please get down from that high chair and look around you and what you morons have done to the state.

Meanwhile the present PAS MB has been going round meeting the rakyat and ketua kampung's and explaining that the former master has been sending their agents out to buy over the present elected representatives to enable them to control the state again to a total war chest of RM50 million.

Besides those developments, the PAS religious brigade has been infiltrating into the state surau's and mosque's to spread their ideology to the surprise of many common muslims.

What are we looking at now? is BN aware ? is the Istana aware ? is DAP aware? maybe yes and maybe not but one thing is for sure, Perak state is going to the dogs.

The common folk of Buntong thought that by voting the opposition and putting their hopes and aspirations, is now left deserted by their elected DAP representative. Do you think they will forget their struggle and will this breed more discontent resulting in anarchy? Your guess is as good as mine.

One thing is for sure, concerted efforts by the opposition front and the Barisan National front is lacking and personal interest seems to be paramount.

So I dare conclude that politics will only get dirtier and the victims will always be the common people who's only option of hard fought hope, slowly disappears from their grasp and sight and may god have mercy on our souls.

MCA - Is it still relevant?

After the tsunami of the 12th General Election of Malaysia, all political parties were sent reeling into, "shock and awe" by the voting citizens of Malaysia and one might ask what went wrong? and why?

Well since I am of chinese orgin, let talk about the Malaysian Chinese Association (MCA), which was suppose to be the back bone and the crusader for the chinese community in Malaysia.
I am a chinese adult with no political affiliation therefore rendering me apolitical, but I still have personal views that I feel is still relevant in the Malaysian context.

The MCA is a prehistoric dinosaur which is so wrapped up in their leaders personal agenda for the past 50 years that they have forgotten the reason why the party was first formed in the early years prior to independence.

They keep harping on issues which predates the social problems of the chinese community prior to independence i.e. chinese schools, argriculture land titles, new villages, scholarships etc and it never dawn onto them that in the 21st century, evolution in terms of technology, education and western influence is very predominant in our daily lives and the chinese community in particular has evolved into sophisticated intelligent human being who posses the ability to reason and not just accept any "crap' being thrown at them.

Gone are the days where the chinese community or guilds would run to their elected representatives for advise, help and all that jazz to get thru their daily lives and business routine.

I can safely vouch for the fact that a big portion or at least 50% of the chinese community does not care for the existence of MCA or need their help to chart a better life style or to better their standard of living as all they ever wanted was, only a fair chance to compete and what has MCA done thus far???????? Not much to be exact albeit the ranting and hype and publicity the MCA is defending our chinese rights before we are all driven out of Malaysia as if we never belonged to the country.

I for one and my immediate family or my parents can definately confirm that we had never sought help, assistance or grants from MCA since our existence and why should we start now since, my success and failures are due only to my sheer hard work or sheer misjudgement in life of which I can only blame myself.

The only thing that the Malaysian government did was to provide an acceptable infrastructures and public faclilities and legal protection (police etc) to her citizen which I am entitled to or every Malaysian citizen is entitled to, in this respect. The Goverment do not even provide level playing for education, businees opportunities etc for the matter, and all of us sincerely feels like 2nd class citizens so much so that we perserve and strife on with life admist all the discrimination in life.

To be fair, MCA has done some good in certain areas in life for Malaysian chinese i.e. Life long learning centre, Unitar, Tar College, Michael Chong etc but the rest of it is just lip service or the so called "silent back door service", besides enriching themselves at the expense of the rakyat.

If they are vocal enough and in the spirit of Barisan Nasional and national building to a better and equal footing of the Bangsa Malaysia, we would not have:

1. The Keris Incident
2. The squatters problem
3. Religion conversion issues
4. Higher Education Opportunities based of meritocracy
5. Pig Issues
6. Land matters
7. Government tenders issues
8. Contentious education policies and issues
9. Place of worship issues
10.Politics of Fear - May 13th
11. JPJ - black box
12. PK - FTZA
13. Temple issues

and much much more which would take years for me just to list out, of which I am ashame at times to be called a local malaysian born chinese and to be associated with MCA.

The MCA has not done "squarte" in the sense that most chinese feels like 2nd class immigrants in a country which most of us second generation chinese were born and everytime UMNO shouts, the MCA goes running with their tails behind them i.e. a metaphor akine to an obedient dog. That the true spirit of cooperation I might add.

Besides rumors of squandering in mega ways, big ways, medium ways and small ways inclusive of the public exhibition of their wealth, the so called YB's, their generals and foot soldiers have created a bad impression to the general chinese community, " all for one and sundry".

Do you honestly think that by holding, "yam seng sessions", "yam char session", 'karaoke session", 'open house session", "dragon dance session", " opening ceremonies", " launchings" etc, these prevalent problems would all go away quietly and besides the internal conflicts of the party akined to, "modern kongsi gelap" society in the making.

Do they seriously think that all of us are blind and deaf and oblivious to our surrounding and all their pledges will be easily forgotten by the general public.

The truth of the matter is, "greed corrupts and absolute greed will lead to destruction of a race and nation", and may god bless them and keep them safe, so the saying goes.

Reinvention, re-engineering, revamp, rebuild etc are just words uttered in times of desperation and am I expected to believe in them, that all those maneuvering would bring prosperity again to those who have yet to benefit after 50 years of independence.

Its a hard task, not impossible but definately uphill and will there be enough so called responsible leaders and selfless politicians to shoulder the burden.

I am sceptical but hopeful and always believed that everyone deserves a chance for all the right reasons or the wrong ones as hope is the only tangible thing left for a better tomorrow.

A State of NEGLECT

Growing up in Ipoh used to bring back fond memories at least between the years of the 70's and the 80's before progress actually caught on.With the dawn of the digital age and information revolution, the silver state of PERAK at a glance has been left behind by my own personal account, a million miles.

What can the state boast of for the past 30 years, the natural caves? the natural forrest? the fantastic landscape? the abundant natural resources? skyscrapers? monuments? museums? cultural heritage? international airport? highways? hotels? public transport?shopping malls? restaurants? theme parks? and the list goes on and on and on.

From the political stand point, politician from UMNO, MCA, MIC and GERAKAN will try to justify their existence and relevance in the management of the state and we are bursting at the seams of development and may I say this, you F...ing liars and frauds and a poor excuse for a human being, much less a reliable and trustworthy politican.

Perak can boast of the following in the Malaysian success story context:

1. the only non operable airport in the country
2. the slow and definate demise of the first inland port in the country
3. public transportation reminiscence of the 70's
4. garbage collection incompetency
5. grass cutters being employed by MBI i.e. 2 sub con and one inhouse just to cut the grass in one area
6. non renewal of mining license (environmental so called issues)
7. non renewal of quarry license (environmental so calles issues)
8. most strategically located bus station
9. most accessible Immigration Department
10. most strategically located Pejabat Tanah Kinta
11. the state which houses the most Tesco outlet in Malaysia
12. depleted and run dowm town hall
13. the most active tourism offfice in Malaysia (being closed all the time)
14. most vibrant tourism industry in Malaysia (cant even find a decent travel catalogue)
15. most promising Perak IT hub in Meru (never fully utilised)
16. the most efficient state development corporation in Malaysia (PKNP)
17. the cleanest river in Malaysia (sungai kinta)
18. turf club of shame in terms of development
19. real estate which can never seem to gain much in the past 30 yrs
20.FTZ deserted
21. Pharmaceutical zone deserted

and the list goes on and on and on and might take another year just to finish listing the state of affairs of this fantastic state called Perak (the so called former silver state) and I would definately be wasting my time rambling on what could have been and might have been for all of us are just "has been"!

The paid salary of common people in Perak is pale compared with the leaps and bounds of the other states in Malaysia. Industies are closing shop, new ones are not forthcoming after fantastic reviews and experience with the so called investment promotion agencies of the state, the less than friendly TNB when it comes to cable laying and the list just goes on and on.

To top it of, some smart investor is investing millions in a 6 star hotel in Royal Belum Forrest to promote eco tourism, and might I add, why on earth would anyone want to go to Belum which is such a distance and the infra sucks (some might want to defer) and amenities are scare if compared with Indonesia, Thailand or even Vietnam and again the so called technocrats in the former state government will beg to differ. We can only hope the new circus of jokers awaiting swearing in ceremony can do a better job, remains to be seen.

Recently some smart alec from MCA proclaimed that he will bring the glory of the yester years back to Perak amist the intensive election campaign and guess what, what the hell has he been doing for the past 4 terms as an appointed state executive councellor of Perak and he is now a Minister in the Cabinet. Were his hand tied then ? and what makes him think now, his hands are not tied or he is going to toe the line in Putrajaya again for the interest of the rakyat. Somehow non of this hold water.Describe or equate this as, "Shock and Awe", term used by the Americans when they invaded Iraq.

The bare truth is that the so called politicians will only take care of themselves and will always be in disguise as "little red riding hood".

Shame on all you so called,"Defender of the Weak and Deprived". What all you past and present leaders has collectively contributed destruction and devastation to all our future generations who still wants to call Perak our home state.

Sad but true and reality hurts and the emotional scar unbearable and with the advant and pending take over of the state government today I hope or whenever the Sultan feels like it (for the good of the rakyat) in accepting the political appointments, I am resigned to my fate as a Perakian and the saying goes, " Inilah nasib negeri ku Perak and negara ku Malaysia".

With what is happening at the Federal Level and similarities could be drawn from Thailand, Indonesia and Filipines, a coup is brewing and only the Rakyat will suffer what ever the outcome is!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Bleak Outlook for the Rakyat

After hours of March 8th 2008, a certain gloom ascended on the shores of my country Malaysia as the Federal Government lost the Federal Territory of KL, the states of Kedah, Penang, Perak and Selangor not including Kelantan which will forever be in the grasp of PAS.

Congratulation to the Alternative Front and in particular to its de facto leader Dato Seri Anuar Ibrahim and his coalition shadow government.

After witnessing the mud slinging, slander, lies, cover-up and anything that is imaginable in Malaysian politics, the conclusion is mind blogging as half of Malaysia is in opposition's control.

I enjoyed the Youtube, Wtv8, PasTv and any imaginable form of alternative media to fight the cause and won handsdowm by the oppossition and the negligence of Barisan National in its wake but the sad truth remains that the RAKYAT will suffer in the short term and the future is uncertain in many aspects.

To date, we have yet to see anything concrete from the oppossition front besides the normal grab for position and power and the failure of the Barisan led government to address lest solve the faith of state government formation in its own back yard i.e. Trengganu and the fiaso in Perlis and in short - politics in Malaysia has gone to the dogs with the royalty getting involved again i.e. deja vu all over again, pre-Tun Mahathir's reign.

In Penang we see some positive development and also in Selangor, which augurs well for citizens and we can only hope that changes will bring prosperity unlike the fate of Perakians.

With this backdrop and the "still in denial" attitude of the BN to move the economy forward and the big question mark of all, "why the BN coalition lost is still being debated", albeit that I still have 40 years left in my life span and I sincerely hope by then, will real BN please stand up.

Economic woes are obviously global admist the USA sub-prime rates affecting Europe and Asia as a whole and this has slowly snow balled into the local domestic economy, amist rising prices of essential goods and fuel will definately lead to the destruction of our economy, aside the comforting words from our second Finance Minister and for your information, another land mind in AFTA by 2010.

Reasons of this pending disaster are simple, whilst the horse trading gets into motion on who control the state legislature and exco portfolio, the state economy and the rakyat will suffer :

1. Non payment of outstanding Local Order due to

@ Shaddy Deals
@ Overpriced Quotation
@ Inferior workmanship
@ To many sub-sub contractors involved
@ Nepotism
@ Workdone out of the scope of LO
@ Non existent work but LO issued

like a bank which deals only with documents and no physical monitoring of goods or workdone since no detailed records exists or shaddy to say the least, the so called new state government will with hold all payments pending audit, declaration and all that sundries from registered contractors and suppliers.

Again the new state government will have to prove the critics wrong and have to do due diligence plus carry out their election manifesto.

Do not forget also the towkay balak and land scavengers who had paid off many ali baba personalities for a slice of timber concession and land banks pending final approval and signature or stamp of approval by former powers to be, are also affected.

All in all, whether in good faith or in bad faith, the good guys and the bad ones, consumers, pensioners and every man on the street will suffer in silence as no money means the cash cycle which oils the local economy cannot be realised thus prompting a self induced slow down especially for the state of Perak (compared with other opposition held states) whom for the past 30 years has yet to see light at the end of the tunnel, since having such incompetent Menteri Besar's who does not hold the vision of progress or self sufficient.

With no revenue from FDI or LDI, Perak's fate is sealed since the abolishment (no support or encouragement from the previous state government) of many industries in the state i.e. tin mining, mineral mining, quarry, kaolin, marine sand mining, sand mining, river sand mining etc. An ironic phase was coined and promoted and launched, "From Mines to Mind Industry", by the former state government to promote highly trained and qualified personnel for various high end industries which seems to fall flat on their faces, remains to be seen and severely critical by most of us the silent technocrats.

It hurts and it pains me to see my home state of Perak, being devoided of development in terms of credible infrastructures, public transportation ie. buses, trains, buses and taxis which still mirror the 70's and most of all a fully intergrated development plan spanning 15 years and some former leaders dare to claim the developed state status by 2015 and with the latest political development from being in a no hope situation, the state is now in the twilight zone and uncertainty is admist and the doomsday count down has begun, will the new opposition front save us from this pending amageddon.

Where does all these so called selected leaders go to school or their tertiary qulification should warrants some special attention as it all seems fake and the institutions are so blind that they award such degrees to misfits.

As the BN government is still unstable as infighting is rampant in UMNO and other coalition partners, and if they still cannot get their act together and hold the bulls by the horn, all of us will be in for a roller coaster ride of our lives never seen in history.

FDI's and potential investors and fund managers has already sounded the alarm and warning and we all still live in a fantasy world of "self denial" which goes to show how thick the government of the day is - in terms of brain matter.

The nagging question persist, " Would such a senario happen in times of Tun Mahathir", one would wonder and contemplate what might have been and the old english adage remains true, "Power corrupts and absolute power corrupts absolutely".

As I see it, the year 2008 has already ended, and all of us are looking to the heaven's for a sign of salvation which is not forthcoming and if God would answer our prayers he would have this advise, "you will reap what you sow my son".
